BuildON project
We are engaged in the EU-funded BuildON project (Affordable and digital solutions to Build the next generation of smart EU buildings), which aims to find affordable digital solutions for buildings and improve their energy efficiency.
Heka’s demo site explores the possibility to introduce smart solutions in buildings
Heka participates in the project with one pilot site. The aim is to improve heating control with electronic radiator thermostats, for example. This will enable room-specific heating control and make it easier for residents to influence their living conditions. We actively collaborate with VTT in the project, and the pilot site also tests the response to demand approach in heating together with VTT. Response to demand aims to reduce heat consumption during the hours when consumption is highest.
Our demo site is a building from Gunillantie 6, which was completed in 1970. The building has just been renovated and has a modern automation system. This allows for a wide range of control options. The property is heated by a combination of a geothermal heat pump and district heating, has been renovated with mechanical air intake and extract ventilation and has solar panels on the roof.
In the project, we investigate the functioning of the technical solutions at the demo site. We use the data to ensure that the smart solutions used at the site work at the best possible level. The aim is to save the property’s energy and maintenance costs and improve the comfort of living.
