New Heka location Tahitinkatu 1 in Jätkäsaari to be completed in March– application period to apartments begins on 17 December
The new location Tahitinkatu 1 consists of 76 apartments ranging from studios to four bedroom family homes. The new location will be completed in February 2025, and the application period will start on Tuesday 17 December. You can apply for the apartments by submitting an application to the City of Helsinki.
Applications for the apartments can be sent to the City of Helsinki as of Tuesday 10 December. You can apply for the apartments by submitting an application to the City of Helsinki. If you have a pending housing application, you can add the apartments of the new location to your application by editing the application during the application period. A third of the apartments are reserved as exchange apartments for people already living in a Heka apartment.
Please note that according to a government decision, income limits will be introduced in Heka tenant selection at the beginning of 2025. The income limits are applied to both new applicants and those changing apartments within Heka.
76 new apartments
Tahitinkatu 1 is located in Jätkäsaari at the corner of Tahitinkatu and Kanariankatu. Jätkäsaari features excellent public transport and cycling and walking connections in many directions. Tahitinkatu 1 is located right next to Hyväntoivonpuisto Park.
The building has 5–7 floors and three stairwells with lifts featuring accessible entrances from the courtyard.
The sizes of the 76 apartments range from 31.5-square-metre studios to four bedroom family homes of over a hundred square metres. All of the homes are designed to be fully accessible. The apartments have either a glazed balcony or balconette. In addition, some of the ground floor apartments include a small yard.
The apartments have white walls and light vinyl plank floors. The kitchen fixtures are also white. The kitchens have space and connections reserved for dishwashers and microwave ovens. The bathrooms have ceramic tile floors. Each apartment also includes a heated storage compartment.
Tahitinkatu features many common areas for residents. The club room, laundry room and drying rooms are located on the ground floor. There are two shared saunas on the top floor. The designated civil defence shelter is located in the basement of the neighbouring housing company. Residents’ parking spaces are located in Jätkäsaari in the district’s shared-use parking garage. One of the parking spaces is reserved for persons with reduced mobility. Bicycles can be stored in the shared yard area and in the ground floor storage rooms.
Like all new Heka locations, Tahitinkatu 1 is a smoke-free location: smoking is prohibited inside the apartments, on the balconies and terraces and in the yards.
