Description of the location
Verkkosaarenkatu 6 is located in Verkkosaari, Kalasatama. It has a total of 101 apartments, of which 20 are service housing apartments for people with developmental disabilities.
The building has seven floors and two stairwells with lifts. The building and all of the apartments are designed to be fully accessible. Almost all of the apartments have their own glazed balcony or terrace.
The apartments feature light-coloured interiors. The floors of the apartments have been finished with durable and easy-care vinyl planks, and the floors of the bathrooms are ceramic tile. The kitchens feature induction stoves, fridge-freezers, dishwashers and space and connections reserved for microwave ovens. The kitchen appliances are white.
The facade of the building is primarily made of reddish bricks. The recesses of the main entrances feature wood cladding. The building has solar panels installed on its roof.
Verkkosaarenkatu 6 is a non-smoking location, meaning that smoking is prohibited inside the apartments, on balconies, in all shared facilities (such as saunas, laundry rooms and club rooms) and yards.
The building features many shared facilities for residents. In addition to the shared saunas and club room on the top floor, the building includes a laundry room with drying rooms and various storage facilities. The building also includes workspaces related to the operation of the service housing apartments.
Kalasatama features great connections to other parts of Helsinki. The closest metro station is an approximately 400-metre walk away from Verkkosaarenkatu, and the closest stop of tram line 13 is 300 metres away. The area also features excellent pedestrian and cycling connections to the city centre and via a pedestrian and cycling bridge to Mustikkamaa as well. Daycare Verkkosaari is located in the neighbouring block. The comprehensive services of Kalasatama are concentrated at the nearby Redi shopping centre.
